Verified Listings on Hozuko

What are “Verified” listings?

We want Hozuko to be a safe place for renters and owners. One way we do this is by checking identities.

On Hozuko, a “verified listing” means the listing is published by a verified user.

Verification refers to checking the identity or business affiliation of the person or company behind the listing (for example, via Singpass, CEA’s Public Register, or business documents).

It does not mean we have physically inspected the property or guaranteed that it is currently for rent.

When someone verifies their identity, we show a green Verified badge on their listings and place them higher in search results.

How do users get verified?

  • Singpass: for individuals who verify using Singapore’s National Digital Identity platform.
  • Business affiliation check*: for representatives or employees of Singapore-registered businesses.
  • Property Agent check**: for agents with an active registration in Singapore (employed by a licensed estate agency).

*We check that the business exists in ACRA’s register and that the contact appears authorised to represent it. This check focuses on the business, not a full identity verification of the individual, although we may request additional identity verification in higher-risk cases.

**Verification reflects eligibility at the time of review and isn’t an endorsement or guarantee. Status can change; please exercise due diligence.

How do I tell if a listing is verified?

Look out for the indicators below.

⚠️ Does “Verified” mean 100% safe?

No. Verified listings are much less likely to be scams, but the risk is not zero. Scammers change tactics, so you still need to be careful.

📝 Tips for Staying Safe

  • Stay alert: Tell us or the police if something feels wrong.
  • Don’t pay upfront: Never send money before you confirm the property is real.
  • Check ownership: Ask for proof if you’re talking to a landlord or tenant directly.
  • Check agents: Look up their number on theCEA Public Register. Meet them in person if possible.
  • Don’t rush: If someone pressures you to decide fast, take a step back and think.
